Balloon Blowup Experiment

Conducted an acid-base reaction combining sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) into half-filled acetic acid (vinegar) bottles. The formation of carbon dioxide gas blew up our latex balloons!
Conducted at both Nims Middle School AND Pineview Elementary!
We were able to demonstrate & discuss with the students important elements of a chemical reaction including reactants and products and their states of matter & the formation of gas buildup as an indicator of a chemical reaction.
