Dancing Flame

Teus, Feb 1st, 2022

Students witnessed the eerie green-blue flame produced after lighting hydrogen gas on fire.

Hydrochloric acid, copper sulfate pentahydrate crystals, and aluminum foil react in an Erlenmeyer flask, producing hydrogen gas.

With this activity, students were introduced to physical chemistry as they performed combustion and exothermic reactions.
